A sixth-grader could face juvenile charges after Seminole school district officials say he brought a gun to school.

Teachers found an unloaded .38-caliber revolver in an 11-year-old student's locker at Northfield Elementary School in Seminole Tuesday afternoon, said Lt. Det. Branon Bowen, a spokesman for the Seminole Police Department. The student's name wasn't released.

Bowen said the student had found the gun while staying overnight at a friend's house Saturday night. The boy later went back to the house and took the gun. He took it to school Tuesday to show to friends. Police don't think the boy intended to use the gun.

“We don't think that he had any malicious intent,” Bowen said.

Police also found ammunition for the gun hidden under a tree in the boy's neighborhood, Bowen said, and police think the boy planned to take a group of his friends to shoot the gun.
