Sen. Jim Inhofe, R-Tulsa, returned to the Senate floor on Monday, a week after his son, Dr. Perry Inhofe, was killed in a plane crash near Owasso.
Inhofe took to the Senate floor early Monday afternoon to talk about the defense bill, which is expected to come up soon. Inhofe is the top Republican on the Senate Armed Services Committee.
Before beginning those remarks, Inhofe thanked the Senate chaplain and Senate majority leader Harry Reid, D-NV, for the comments they made last week about Inhofe’s loss.
“I had a horrible loss eight days ago, losing a son,” Inhofe said.
Dr. Inhofe, the eldest son of Jim and Kay Inhofe, was buried on Thursday. He would have turned 52 last week.
