BOSTON (AP) — U.S. Sen. John Kerry says he's feeling relieved the presidential debates are over and he no longer has to play Mitt Romney in sparring matches with President Barack Obama.
The Massachusetts Democrat played Romney in mock debates with the president because Kerry was familiar with the Republican candidate from Romney's days as governor.
Kerry said it was a huge honor. He said he was chosen from "binders of senators," a riff on Romney's reference to "binders full of women" during the second presidential debate.
Kerry also joked that Obama got worried when Kerry decided to close a couple of factories and then drove away from debate practice with his dog on top of his car.
