Senate committee approves Sen. Tom Coburn's bill for earmark database

WASHINGTON — A Senate committee on Wednesday approved a bill by Sen. Tom Coburn that would establish a simple, online source for tracking lawmakers' pet projects.

The legislation got bipartisan support and, according to Coburn, responds to President Barack Obama 's call for a single, searchable database for congressional earmarks.
