Senate rejects Sen. Tom Coburn's plan
WASHINGTON — The U.S. Senate on Monday defeated an attempt by Sen. Tom Coburn to break the impasse over funding for disabled veterans, rejecting Coburn’s proposal that would have required lawmakers to make cuts to military construction projects and other veterans programs to make room in the budget for aid to disabled vets’ caregivers.
