A former Oklahoma police captain convicted of manslaughter in the fatal shooting of a teenager is scheduled to be formally sentenced.

Former Del City Police Capt. Randy Trent Harrison was convicted by an Oklahoma County jury of the March 14, 2012, shooting death of Dane Scott Jr. The victim was shot in the back following a high-speed chase that began when Harrison tried to pull over Scott’s car.

Jurors recommended a four-year prison sentence. District Judge Donald Deason is scheduled to sentence Harrison on Wednesday.

Deason has also scheduled a hearing on Harrison’s motion for a new trial. Defense attorneys allege there was misconduct on the part of the jury that convicted Harrison and details of juror deliberations were improperly made public. Prosecutors say Harrison’s defense attorneys have no proof. has disabled the comments for this article.
