September crash near Purcell takes fifth life

A fifth person has died as a result of a Sept. 25 crash south of Purcell in McClain County, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports.

A fifth person has died as a result of a Sept. 25 crash south of Purcell in McClain County, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports.

Rebecca Sisca, age and residence unknown, died at 11 p.m. Wednesday at OU Medical Center, the patrol reports.

Four others were killed when a pickup driven by Jordan Powell, 23, of Wayne, crashed about 3 miles south of Purcell on U.S. 77, the patrol reports.

Trulie Beason, 36, of Lexington was dead at the scene. Gregory Haegele, 48, of Elk City was also dead at the scene as was Cody Simmons, 22, of Purcell.

Powell was taken to OU Medical Center where he was treated for injuries, the patrol reports.

The name of one passenger killed has not been released.

The patrol said Powell was driving south on U.S. 77 when he drifted into the northbound lane when he jerked the wheel to avoid an oncoming vehicle, ran off the road and into a culvert then hit an embankment, overturning several times. All of the occupants were ejected, the patrol reports.
