When it didn't look like Serge Ibaka was going to make it back to the court this playoffs, It came down to a few things for the Thunder's defensive backbone.
"I believe in God, and I believe in miracles, and I believe that everything is possible," Ibaka told USA Today Sports. "When I did the MRI (on the calf), and the MRI showed us that I was really bleeding a lot, but I said, 'I just want to keep believing, man.'"
Ibaka lifted the Thunder past the Spurs 106-97 with what he called a miraculous comeback in Game 3. He credited God first and foremost following the game, and the people around him did their best to make sure Ibaka was in good spirits.
Think he was in good spirits after last night? Ibaka had 15 points, seven rebounds and four blocked shots in 30 minutes, but came out 5-of-5 shooting and resurrected the Thunder's season with his presence.
As reported by USA Today's Sam Amick, Ibaka's pop singer girlfriend, Keri Hilson, and his sister, Rachina, played a huge part behind the scenes with Ibaka.
Hilson joked about her nurse to Ibaka role on Instagram, but attributed his quick recovery from a thought-to-be season-ending injury to "God and ice."
"He's one of the most dedicated people I've ever seen in any field, one of the most dedicated people I've ever been able to witness," Hilson told USA Today. "(Rachina) was as much his nurse as I was. She cooks. I do the TLC and cook a little bit. We had to be there for him." See this story on www.usatoday.com
