Services pending for Tulsa author Billie Letts

Billie Letts, author of several novels, including “Where the Heart Is,” died Saturday. She was 76. Services are pending with Mallett Funeral Home in Wagoner.

Letts was a native Tulsan and retired teacher of English and creative writing at Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant.

Her husband, Dennis Letts, was an actor and also taught English at Southeastern. He died in 2008. Her son Tracy Letts is a playwright who won a Pulitzer Prize for his play “August: Osage County.”
