Session on Alzheimer's prevention planned

Elderversity is offering its first public class on Alzheimer’s prevention on Oct. 30 at Metro Tech on Springlake Drive in Oklahoma City.

Previously, Elderversity offered similar classes at independent and assisted living retirement communities in Oklahoma City, Yukon and Enid.

The Alzheimer’s class helps individuals understand there are many new habits that can be practiced to prevent or delay the onset of Alzheimer’s or dementia.

The public class is a 90-minute format, and is partially based on the works of Dr. Gary Small, director of the Center on Aging at UCLA. Small is the author of The Memory Bible and The Alzheimer’s Prevention Program.

The Oct. 30 class will be offered twice — at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the auditorium of Metro Tech.
