After winning his primary election through a rare drawing to settle a tie, Blaine County Sheriff Ricky Ainsworth had a much easier time in Tuesday’s general election.

Ainsworth, a Republican, pulled 56 percent to beat Democratic challenger Travis Daugherty. He was one of several incumbent sheriffs to win re-election Tuesday.

Elsewhere, Republican Bruce Peoples beat Democrat Rick McCain to become the new Custer County sheriff. Peoples replaces Mike Burgess, who faces 35 felony counts accusing him of mistreating female inmates.

In Grady County, Austin Green defeated Art Kell in the bid to replace Kieran McMullen, another sheriff ousted by legal troubles.
