NORMAN – The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Oklahoma County.
The warning was issued at 8:50 p.m. as heavy thunderstorms moved through the metro area. Hail and strong winds are possible. Severe thunderstorm warnings for Cleveland and McClain counties have also been issued.
The Oklahoma City fire departments have responded to several homes and businesses that may have been struck by lighting, according to scanner traffic. Earlier in the evening storms moved through southwest Oklahoma. There were reports of at least one tornado in eastern Kiowa County but the National Weather Service has not confirmed that.
There were reports of golf ball sized hail in Tillman County and winds up to 52 knots near Blackwell.
