TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — All it took to lure Shaquille O'Neal to the University of Alabama was some persistent pestering on Twitter.

The former NBA star was on campus Friday to direct a public service announcement for the anti-binge drinking initiative LessThanUThink.

O'Neal tells The Tuscaloosa News (http://bit.ly/HouVjb ) a campaign launched from Alabama via the social networking website Twitter caught his eye and helped woo him the school. He said he's "big on Twitter and somebody just kept tweeting me and kept tweeting me."

O'Neal recently attended film director's school and partnered with the Century Council to work with college students on producing videos that address binge drinking. Students submitted storyboards and O'Neal selected one by Crystal Deuel, an advertising major at the University of Alabama.
