Share your selfie with us -- we want to see you and OKC

We want you to participate in our #OKCSelfie contest this year.

All you need is a smart phone and a face. That part is pretty easy.

After that, all we ask for is your creativity.

The concept is simple. Take a picture of yourself with your smartphone somewhere in Oklahoma. An iconic image of the city can be the backdrop – or not. Maybe you have a better idea.

Here’s one example:

I can think of some good options, but I don’t know how the most creative people in the city might go about it. I do know that I’m looking forward to seeing what’s uploaded. I expect to be pleasantly surprised.

NewsOK is looking for submissions on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook. All you need to do is upload with the hashtag of #OKCSelfie on any of those platforms. It’s that simple. Use the hashtag and you are in.

If you’re not a social media user, we’ll still allow you to submit a photo. Just visit and upload your picture through the form on that page. We also have all the rules for the contest linked on that page, as well.

Bedford Camera and Video is giving away a Sony DSLR Camera Package as a grand prize. And four other finalists will receive $250 gift certificate to Bedford.

The #OKCSelfie contest is part of our annual Outlook production. We will showcase the five award-winning selfies in the printed 2014 Outlook section and on the Outlook website –

We’ll accept entries through March 28, so you have plenty of time. Since we launched this contest more than a week ago, we’ve had more than 75 entries.

So get creative – and start sharing your #OKCSelfie.
