Sharia law question merits support

Given the existence of "speech codes” on college campuses and the increasingly hysterical rants from some that any criticism of Islam is "bigoted” and "Islamophobic,” it's only a matter of time before those same voices accommodate the OIC and agitate for legal prohibitions in America against what they call "hate speech.”

In 1998 Omar Ahmad, co-founder of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, told two newspapers: "Islam isn't in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become dominant. The Quran should be the highest authority in America.” Other Muslim leaders have made similar statements. Prohibiting the courts here in Oklahoma from accommodating sharia law will be a firewall against such usurpation of American law.

This isn't hypothetical. If a prohibition comparable to SQ 755 had existed in New Jersey, the Muslim woman who had to wait a year to obtain a restraining order on appeal would have been spared a nightmare.

The words of those who maintain we have nothing to worry about or who ridicule SQ 755 will be little consolation should it fail to pass and what is happening in states like New Jersey begins happening here.
