SHAWNEE — A reward offered for a pet kangaroo missing for more than a month has been raised to $2,000, and snow that could have dampened hope might provide new opportunities to find her.
Shayla Menhusen, owner of the missing kangaroo, Lucy Sparkles, said the snow might make it easier to spot the brownish-gray marsupial as well as her tracks. Photographs taken near Interstate 240 and Walker Avenue after the snowfall also appear to show kangaroo footprints.
“In light of the information and because they feel certain she might be there, G.W. Exotic Animal Park is matching our reward,” she said.
This brings the reward to $2,000 and is the highest it will go, she said.
The 2-foot tall marsupial disappeared on Thanksgiving evening, and the family has pulled out every stop to find her. From a Facebook page with around 2,600 followers to organized searches earlier this month, Menhusen said she's still not giving up hope.
“We'll continue to search until we feel that window has closed,” she said.
