Shawnee pair charged in Oklahoma City shooting that wounded boy, 16
Charles L. Bennett, 26, is accused of shooting a boy and his sister as she tried to shield her children; co-defendant Melissa C. Patterson, 25, is accused of telling Bennett to get her gun and “blast on them.”
A Shawnee man is accused of shooting a 16-year-old several times at close range and then firing at the boy's sister as she tried to protect her two children, court documents show.

Charles Leonard Bennett III, 26, and Melissa Carole Patterson, 25, of Shawnee, were charged Wednesday in Oklahoma County District Court with one count each of assault and battery with a deadly weapon and shooting with intent to kill.
Bennett has been in the Oklahoma County jail since Nov. 16; police have requested a warrant for Patterson's arrest.
Patterson is accused of telling Bennett to retrieve her gun and shoot the boy and his sister, who was fighting with Patterson, according to a probable cause affidavit.
The shootings occurred just after midnight Nov. 10 at a residence in the 7200 block of Galahad Circle, Oklahoma City police reported.
Witnesses said Patterson and Heather Nichols started fighting in the garage of Nichols' home when Nichols asked Patterson and two men to leave because they brought marijuana into her home, and they refused, police said.
