An ex-girlfriend of a man called 911 about 7:30 a.m. Monday after she had reason to believe her old boyfriend was at her house with her children, the Shawnee Police Department reported.

The ex-girlfriend told police Robert Gore, 33, called her Monday morning, and she heard her children in the background of the phone call. She hung up with her ex-boyfriend and called police.

When police arrived at the woman’s home, 113 W Independence St. about a mile southeast of Oklahoma Baptist University, officers said they saw someone run into the home.

Police said they cleared the house and evacuated the children but there was no sign of Gore. The children told police Gore was hiding under the home.

About 11:30 a.m. three officers were sent in to retrieve Gore. They found him in the crawl space under the home. He used a shovel to dig under the home and create a bunker out of dirt, police said.

No weapons were used during the standoff or capture but police said crews on the scene were on high alert because of Gore’s “extensive arrest record.”

Police said Gore has five city warrants in Shawnee and at least one Pottawatomie County felony warrant.

He was arrested Monday for complaints of burglary and resisting arrest.
