Shell pushes back against Nigerian oil thefts Published: April 12, 2013

Royal Dutch Shell is stepping up efforts to halt crude oil theft in Nigeria, pushing for international action against criminal gangs and businesses that profit from the trade in stolen oil.

The pushback reflects mounting frustration among Nigeria's biggest foreign investors with a Nigerian government that appears powerless to halt the losses that earn thieves an estimated $7 billion a year.
