PURCELL -- The McClain County sheriff is warning people not to fall for a telephone scammer soliciting money in the name of a little girl who was slain last week.

Jamie Rose Bolin, 10, was buried Wednesday. Her 26-year-old neighbor, Kevin Ray Underwood, has been charged with first-degree murder in the case.

A Newcastle woman reported receiving a phone call from a man who said the sheriff's department was asking for donations for the prevention of child endangerment.

McClain County Sheriff Don Hewitt said his department is not soliciting any donations.

Donations to the Jamie Bolin Memorial Fund can be made at any Bank of Oklahoma location.
