Oklahoma City drivers are asked to find an alternate route home Monday evening if their route includes the Shields Boulevard ramp to westbound Interstate 40.

The state Transportation Department has closed the ramp so workers can remove a damaged overhead sign structure. The ramp was closed Monday afternoon and the department expects to reopen it around 7 p.m. Monday.

Drivers are asked to use Interstate 235, Western Avenue or the Oklahoma City Boulevard near Sheridan Avenue and Klein Avenue to access westbound Interstate 40, the state Transportation Department reported.
