Shooting kills Grove woman, hospitalizes suspect

Dena Davenport, 49, of Grove, died about 8 p.m. Thursday after being shot in the head, Grove Police Chief Mark Morris said. Shooting suspect Doyle Handle, 52, of Grove, was flown to a Joplin, Mo., hospital, also suffering a gunshot wound to the head.

A Delaware County woman was fatally shot Thursday evening, Grove Police Chief Mark Morris confirmed. Dena Davenport, 49, of Grove, died about 8 p.m. Morris said she was apparently shot in the head. Doyle Handle, 52, of Grove, a suspect in the shooting, was flown by helicopter to a Joplin, Mo., hospital with an apparent gunshot wound to the head. Morris said the shooting happened before 7:55 p.m.
