‘The Price Is Right’ is airing its 7,000th episode todayThe multiple Daytime Emmy Award-winning game show "The Price Is Right,” the longest-running game show in broadcast history, celebrates its 7,000th episode at 10 a.m. today on CBS. To celebrate, the number 7,000 plays a theme in a few games on the show. In addition, three games that are played also were played in the first show which was broadcast Sept. 4, 1972. As of the 7,000th show, nearly a quarter of a billion dollars in prizes have been given away to about 62,000 contestants. In addition, more than 2 million people have been welcomed to the studio audience. The contestants have ranged in age from 18 to 99 years old, and have come from all 50 states, as well as multiple countries. Bob Barker hosted "The Price Is Right” from its first broadcast in 1972 until he retired in 2007. In October 2007, Drew Carey took over as the host. The show, now in its 38th year, has won 36 Daytime Emmy Awards. From Staff and Wire Reports
