An Oklahoma City man was in jail Friday after police say he shot a man who came to his front door to sell meat.

Glyn Mearanto, 33, was arrested on a complaint of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. He was being held Friday in the Oklahoma County jail on $7,500 bail.

Steven Michael Williams, of Oklahoma City, told police Monday he knocked on Mearanto’s front door on April 26 trying to sell steaks. Mearanto answered the door holding a shotgun and fired the gun at Williams, grazing him, Williams told police.

Williams told police his injuries were minor, but that he was on his way to Deaconess Hospital for treatment.

Police said Mearanto had posted several signs in his yard warning visitors to stay away, including placards reading “private property, no trespassing,” “beware of dog” and “beware of everything.”
