Maybe Lynn has a good point in regard to the country versus the city when it comes to billboard restriction.....=) lol

Yes, billboards should be restricted. Years ago, First Lady Lady Bird Johnson (that looks pretty strange =) successfully launched a movement to do just that. Billboards had taken over the landscapes along highways. The result was positive. Billboards had become a type of pollution, just as John, Norman labeled them. _______Now the billboards are again beginning to overtake the view. Advertising need not dominate the roadside. Americans and Oklahomans are exposed to advertising in extraordinary amounts each and every day. It seems important to make beautification our goal. John, Norman pointed out the pleasure of being able to enjoy the scenery. We talk of good stewardship and conservation...let's preserve the view.

I would restrict them in the country, but in urban areas, they actually improve some of the views!

I really don't pay that much attention to them unless I am on the highway. On city streets, it's too dangerous to try to slow down and read a billboard, especially if the guy behind you is on his cell phone and not paying attention to your brake lights. To me, as long as billboards are up to date with their information and they aren't all damaged and torn up, I have no problem with it.

Yes they should be restricted. After traveling through Maine, Vermont and Canada one can appreciate the scenery
when not in a city. They are eye pollution.

Normal billboards, nah, they have been around for ever. The newer flashing LED ones need to be banned, they are very distracting and nearly blinding to those with certain vision problems.

I couldn't care less. There are so many more important things to worry about.
