COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) — The Sierra Club has endorsed Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown in Maryland's governor's race.
The organization on Wednesday cited the Democratic candidate's commitment to environmental justice and policy plans to ensure that the environment remains a priority in Maryland's next administration.
Betsy Johnson is the political chair for the Sierra Club's Maryland Chapter. She says that in the last eight years, Brown has helped advance policies to clean up the Chesapeake Bay and to bring clean energy jobs to Maryland by expanding the use of wind and solar power.
Brown says that if he is elected governor he will be committed to addressing climate change, strengthening air and water quality and cleaning up the Chesapeake Bay.
