Where he fits on the depth chart: With openings at both safety spots and nickelback, Lowe could compete for playing time immediately, at least as a backup and special teams helper.

Long-term impact: The Cowboys need playmakers in the secondary and Lowe has all the tools. Even if he redshirts this fall, expect to see him on the field in some capacity by 2010.
