Site work is under way in MidTown at the former location of Mercy Hospital.

The site is set to become home to the $36 million, 250-unit Edge apartments.

The site at NW 13 and Walker Avenue contained the blighted remains of Mercy Hospital until it was acquired and cleared by the city in 1998.

When selected as developer by the Oklahoma City Urban Renewal Authority in August 2011, Gary Brooks promised an aggressive schedule, starting construction in 12 months.

He missed that mark — a delay he said was caused by the time needed to get financing.

Brooks estimates the project will be completed by fall of 2014.
