Family of slain Buffalo Valley woman doubles reward
Marie Dighton, 67, was found killed in her Buffalo Valley home June 5, 2008. Dighton's daughter, Evelyn Norman, said she hopes by doubling the reward to $20,000, someone will come forward with information. The additional $10,000 will expire Nov. 1.
TALIHINA — The reward in the 2008 homicide of a 67-year-old Latimer County woman has been doubled to $20,000.
Marie Dighton, 67, was found June 5, 2008, in her Buffalo Valley home, with her throat slashed nine times and with defensive wounds on her left hand.
How to help
The OSBI tip hotline can be reached at (800) 522-8017. The Latimer County sheriff's office can be reached at (918) 465-4012.
One of Dighton's daughters, Evelyn Norman, of Talihina, is doubling the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation's $10,000 reward until Nov. 1 in an attempt to help the family get answers.
“I want whoever who knows anything to speak up and to speak up now, and I figure if they know there is a time limit, it might make somebody talk,” Norman said.
OSBI spokeswoman Jessica Brown said investigators remain determined.
“Every once and awhile, we will get a lead. It's not necessarily a viable lead but we certainly want to check it out. But there is nothing, at this point in time, that is going to bust the case wide open,” Brown said. “We are not going to give up, though.”
“You're hopeful on these cold cases that someone knows something and, at some point in time, will come forward. People's lives change, and sometimes that works in our favor and you have to keep that door open just in case.”
