MUSTANG — The wife of a slain Nichols Hills Fire Chief Keith Bryan awaits an initial court arraignment and charges to be filed against her this week in connection with her husband's death.

Rebecca Bryan, 52, was arrested on a first-degree murder complaint at an Oklahoma City hotel about 12:20 p.m. Friday.

Her attorney, Gary James, said Tuesday he's been in talks with her at the Canadian County jail and said she seems to be doing the best she can, considering the circumstances.

“Her brother or other family members made a statement that she was in good spirits,” James said. “She's going through a lot right now.”

James said Rebecca Bryan will plead not guilty to any charges.

Mustang police said Keith Bryan was shot in his home Sept. 20 and taken to a hospital, where he died the next morning.

Cherokee Ballard, spokeswoman for the state medical examiner's office, said Keith Bryan died of a gunshot wound to the head.

His death has been ruled a homicide, she said.
