RICHLAND, Okla. - A single-engine airplane made an emergency landing in a wheat field in Canadian County, and the pilot and the co-pilot escaped injury, authorities said.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Betsy Randolph said the pair walked to a farm house after the landing, which occurred about 11 a.m. Thursday, between Richland and Okarche.

She said the airplane, a Beechcraft F35, apparently had some type of engine trouble, which forced the emergency landing. News video showed an apparently intact small airplane sitting in a field.

Randolph said the farmer is nearly ready to harvest his hay and will work with authorities to make sure he can get his crop in before the field is torn up by efforts to recover the airplane.

She said the airplane is normally kept at Wiley Post Airport. She was not sure where it was being flown Thursday when the emergency landing occurred.
