At some point Friday, the Twitter world sent some Cowboys fans into a panic, when a tweet from nbadraft.net suggested Marcus Smart was wavering in his decision to return to OSU.
The tweet: “Word on the street is Marcus Smart is having second thoughts about pulling his name out of draft. Don’t be shocked if he changes his mind.”
Actually, be shocked, according to those close to Smart.
A source told me Friday night that Smart laughed off the report, confirming that he’s still committed to being a Cowboy.
And that only makes sense, considering the tone of Smart’s portion of the press conference when he, Markel Brown and Le’Bryan Nash all declared their intent to return to OSU for next season.
A change of direction would have been awkward, at best, after Smart all but scolded anyone who questioned his decision or doubted his ability to remain a top prospect when a supposedly strong group of freshmen is expected to join the NBA Draft mix next spring.
