Smart's Decision -- Smart? New Tone Suggests Yes

When Marcus Smart made his decision last March to return to Oklahoma State for another season, the blowback from analysts and experts returned heavy criticism.

The overwhelming consensus among those with a take, and there were many: bad decision.

How could he pass up that guaranteed money?

How could he not compete with the best?

How could he!

Well, time seems to have calmed some of those takes. As the Cowboys near the opening of preseason practices Friday, and college basketball chatter starts to pick up, ESPN’s “draft experts” weighed in on a variety of topics, including “Did Marcus Smart make the right decision to return to school?” You can find the answers from Chad Ford, Paul Biancardi, Jeff Goodman, Kevin Pelton and Aman Elhassan here.

Of course, Smart believes so. And the Cowboys fans, many of whom filled the Student Union that memorable March day, believe so.

Only time will tell if perception continues to swing Smart’s way.
