Smoke detectors are available to city residents at no cost
The Oklahoma City Fire Department provides free smoke detectors under its long-standing initiative, Project Life Smoke Alarm Program.
“There's no reason every citizen in the city of Oklahoma City should not have one,” said Battalion Chief Tim Adams, who presides over public education for the department.
Project Life provides smoke detectors to people who can't afford them, individuals living in homes with children, the elderly and people with disabilities.
The fire department will install the alarms and new batteries for people who need assistance, Adams said.
To participate, stop by a local fire station or call 297-3314 or 297-3318.
