The National Weather Service said moisture pumping into the state overnight came from an upper-level storm system moving northeast from Texas.
It left the heaviest snowfalls north of the metro area to the Kansas state line, with amounts of 1 to 3 inches.
The central counties mostly had a light dusting. But cold temperatures froze precipitation on bridge and overpasses, making driving treacherous, particularly on the west side of Oklahoma City.
Several multiple-vehicle accidents were reported, causing motorists on both sides of the roadways to lose control.
Forecasters said rain will spread across most of the state before ending from the southwest today. Rain may be mixed with snow over parts of western and central Oklahoma this morning.
Dry weather will return to the state tonight and Tuesday with warmer temperatures Tuesday as high pressure builds into the area.
A cold front will approach the region on Wednesday, bringing the next chance of precipitation Wednesday evening and Thursday.
