Soccer player punished for in-game selfie Published: July 7, 2014

The MLS season is chugging ahead despite the attention monopolizing World Cup still going on, but someone within the league realized that one way to get noticed is by adding more props to the goal celebrations, according to Yahoo Sports.

Dom Dwyer scored in the 33rd minute of Sporting KC's match against Chicago when the Chicago players put themselves to sleep with their own lackadaisical passing. After putting the ball past the keeper, Dwyer ran to a pitchside photographer, who handed him a phone. He then summoned a group of fans to huddle around as he put his arm around teammate Soony Saad and took a selfie.

Dwyer was shown a yellow card for excessive celebration, but at least he got a picture to remember the moment forever, Yahoo Sports reports.
