PARTYING FOR A CAUSE
Event: Downtown Rotary Club 29 Winter Party.
Where: Gaillardia Country Club.
What: More than 300 guests dressed in their best black and white ensembles attended this fun party. Most of the men wore their tuxes and the women varied their combinations of black and white attire. A gourmet buffet was served, and guests rounded out the evening dancing to the music of Born in November featuring C-Plus.
To benefit: Rwanda Water Project, sponsored by Club 29.
In charge: Tina Majors was chairman and her co-chairmen were Valerie Aubert, Barbara Newey and Lou Kerr. Marion Paden is president.
FOR THE SAKE OF MUSIC
Event: A Touch of Class at the Plaza.
Where: Ruth Meyers and The Coach House restaurant.
Hosts: Canterbury Choral Society.
To benefit: The evening raised $15,000 to benefit the artistic and education programs of Canterbury Choral Society.
The evening: The benefit began at Ruth Meyers with Champagne, appetizers, fashion and Canterbury to Go Singers. From there, guests walked across the parking lot to dine on award-winning cuisine at The Coach House restaurant and participate in an auction.
Event: IPRA (International Pro Rodeo Association) Luncheon.
Where: Devon Boathouse.
What: A lunch catered by Aunt Pittypats, modeling by Miss Rodeo USA Contestants and a silent auction.
To benefit: The Amanda Westermier Memorial Foundation, founded after the tragic death at age 14 of Mandy Westermier, a rising star in youth rodeo, who died in 2003 after being thrown from a horse during a rodeo. Funds pay for a youth rodeo student's tuition to attend the Camp of Champions in Sayre.
