The Evening: Guests were whisked in elevators to the 50th floor of the Devon Tower in a matter of a few seconds to attend this special evening. A spectacular edifice of marble and glass offered views that seemed to go on forever. At night the masses of distant blinking lights was breathtaking and reminded one of a science-fiction scene. Numerous food stations offered gourmet buffet fare. Extended seating areas provided extra seating and videos of the live program in the main room. Tall urns held sophisticated arrangements in yellow and green. Dressed in matching lavender suits, the 411 Band provided music. Gov. Mary Fallin and Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett took the podium along with campaign chairmen and organizers to explain the mission of the campaign and to announce the amount raised by corporate and private donations. Also, participation in the public portion of the campaign was stressed.
