Oklahoma City's Social Security office will move next year from Shepherd Mall to a 23,000-square-foot building at Market Center, NE 122 and N Kelley Avenue.

The Social Security office moved into Shepherd Mall at NW 23 and Villa after the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building.

Developer Mark Ruffin of PrecorRuffin said the new building will complement the art deco design of Market Center and afford easier access for Social Security recipients.

Ward 7 City Council Member Skip Kelly said he hoped the move would encourage more businesses to open in the area around Market Center, on the city's northeast side.
