Mathis allowed one hit and struck out eight while helping the Sooners improve to 40-11 overall and 13-2 in the Big 12. She walked just one.

Mathis had all she needed after two innings as the Sooners charged to a 7-0 lead. The Sooners put the run rule in effect with a run in the sixth.

Susan Ogden hit her 11{+t}{+h} home run of the season. Lindsey Vandever added her seventh.

•OSU routs Kansas: Kim Kaye slugged her 13{+t}{+h} homer of the season as Oklahoma State throttled Kansas 8-1 in Big 12 softball in Lawrence.

OSU (25-22 overall, 8-7 Big 12) scored in every inning but the first and seventh. That gave Anna Whiddon and Amanda Crabtree plenty of room to work with, as they combined for nine strikeouts and allowed six hits.

Four Cowgirls had two hits each, but Mariah Gearhart topped them all with three.
