PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Some Rhode Island schools are opening late and more than a dozen flights have been cancelled at T.F. Green Airport as a storm that dumped snow and ice across the Northeast lingers for a second day.
Schools in Coventry, North Kingstown and Westerly are among those opening an hour late Friday. The Chariho Regional School District serving Charlestown, Richmond and Hopkinton also is opening an hour late.
T.F. Green reported 16 cancelled flights Friday morning.
The National Weather Service says the storm that began Thursday morning dumped up to 9 inches of snow in northern Rhode Island, while the Providence area saw about 4 inches.
The Weather Service says another storm could bring an additional 6 inches of snow to the region beginning Saturday afternoon.
