Some schools see more homeless

Some school districts in the state are reporting an increase in the number of homeless students. Officials think the increase is the result of better homelessness identification and the faltering economy.

There were 869 homeless students in Oklahoma City Public Schools as of Oct. 6, a figure higher than at the same time last year, said Brooke Davis , the district’s homeless education coordinator.
