SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) — The son of two-time Cy Young Award winner Bret Saberhagen is the new pitching coach at USC Upstate.
The school announced Tuesday that Drew Saberhagen was added to the staff by head coach Matt Fincher. Drew Saberhagen was drafted out of high school by the Oakland A's in 2004. He's spent the past two seasons at Newberry.
Drew Saberhagen played college ball at Pepperdine and Western Carolina. Saberhagen made the all-Southern Conference first team with the Catamounts in 2007 after leading the league with 2.87 ERA.
