Tuttle's Philip Koons has resigned as the team's football coach, according to messages his son posted on Twitter Monday.
Tuttle's Philip Koons has resigned as the team's football coach, according to messages his son posted on Twitter Monday.

Longtime Tuttle football coach Philip Koons appears to be on his way out.

Koons’ son, Tanner, posted a comment on Twitter about his father leaving, and when asked about it, he tweeted that the coach had resigned. No further details were given about the situation surrounding the resignation.

Philip Koons could not be reached for comment Monday night.

Koons has guided the Tigers to two state championships and more than 200 wins in 21 seasons at Tuttle. He coached Jason White, who went on to win the Heisman Trophy as Oklahoma’s quarterback.
