Dozens answered that question on newsok.com Friday. Several suggested that the team retain its Sonics nickname, but most favored a name change.

Possibilities included Thunderbirds, Thunderbolts, Tornadoes, Wind, Energy, Surge, Stallions, Roughnecks and Posse.

"What's wrong with the Sonics?” Dave in Moore said. "The Oklahoma City Sonics has a good ring to it.”

Joseph in Oklahoma City said, "Leave that tradition in Seattle. That is their nickname, and we need to have our own.”
