Sons of American Revolution recognizes veteran

Command Sgt. Maj. Everett Bagley Jr. was honored during a January meeting.

Command Sgt. Maj. Everett Bagley Jr., U.S. Army (Ret.) was recognized by the Oklahoma City Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution during their Jan. 14 meeting.

The chapter awarded him the Wounded Warrior Project Coin/Medallion with certificate and the War Service Medal with Vietnam Bar, Purple Heart Pin and certificate.

In 1966, while serving in South Vietnam as a medic in the 502nd Parachute Infantry Regiment, he left his position of safety, and while dragging a wounded soldier to safety was wounded by gunfire. He was awarded the Silver Star and received the Purple Heart.

Bagley was inducted into the Oklahoma Military Hall of Fame on Nov. 9.
