Tailgating with one custom schooner, one grill, one large tent, one television, dozens of lawn chairs and a wall of Sooner memorabilia. Serving up chicken, shiskabob, shrimp, steak, burgers, hot dogs, pork chops and rum-soaked pineapples. Sipping on Bud Light, Keystone Light, Busch and Miller Lite. This isn't your average schooner. It's outfitted with a television, grill, a slew of Sooner football memorabilia and even a toilet. Everything from signed footballs to pictures of The Rolling Stones at Owen Field are tacked on the side of this custom schooner, which for the past few years has served as the host of a raucous tailgate in the middle of campus. Before Saturday's game, the owner of the schooner said he was too tipsy to talk about his "prized beauty," so he appointed his "chief tailgater" to speak on his behalf. "We went from lawn chairs and a tent to this," said Roger Ashby, the co-host and chief tailgater. Most of the 30 people tailgating Saturday in the tent next to the schooner weren't OU alumni, just die-hard Sooner football fans. All had tickets to the game. They said football is a big part of their friendship. "This is the best time of year, for sure," said tailgater Tommy Tuck. "We have the best people in the world, and a great tailgate."
