The folks from Goolsby, Proctor, Heefner and Gibbs Law Firm have been putting down stakes along across from the First Presbyterian Church on University Ave. for a decade.

It started out as an idea to entertain clients of the firm, which specializes in small business start-ups and civil litigation. Or, as partner David Proctor admits, a good excuse to get together and have a good time on game days.

The event has grown into a rotating menu operation that carefully selects a Beer of the Year before each season. That’s a painstaking process that include Proctor’s son of the same name bringing in several choices for beer-by-beer judgment. That beer joins several other standards, including the official beer of King Barry Switzer, Pearl.

Proctor said they have to special order the Pearl from a distributor to get it. But this litigious bunch of libationists don’t do anything small. For the Florida State game, Proctor got up at 5 a.m. to roll out and cut dough for homemade Indian Tacos, which were fried on site with turkey fryers.
