Sooners men's basketball heading to Bahamas next season

Oklahoma guard Buddy Hield will get to go home next November.

The Sooners will play in the Battle 4 Atlantis on Thanksgiving weekend 2014, the event announced Tuesday.

The Battle 4 Atlantis will feature North Carolina, UCLA, Georgetown, Florida, Wisconsin, Butler and UAB. The event runs Nov. 26-28 in Paradise Island, Bahamas.

Hield, the Sooners sophomore guard, was born in Freeport, Bahamas on Grand Bahama Island. Paradise Island is off the island of Nassau. Hield played high school basketball at Sunrise Christian Academy in Wichita, Kan.

Villanova won this year’s tournament, beating Iowa in overtime in the finals. The Wildcats beat Kansas in the semifinals.
