Thursday night, Mike Stoops will have Sooners fans cheering his team once again.

Stoops and Arizona host No. 2-ranked Oregon in perhaps the Ducks' most difficult test left this season.

If Arizona pulls off the upset, Oklahoma will control its own destiny of reaching the BCS championship, thanks to Illinois' toppling of previously No. 1 Ohio State 28-21 Saturday.

"What that did was put everyone on a level playing field,” said Hugo native Richard Billingsley, who operates the Billingsley Report, one of six computer rankings that factor into the BCS. "It looks much, much better for the Sooners with an opportunity to beat Kansas in their hand. But I still think they're going to need a little bit of help.”

Help doesn't seem likely to come against anyone playing LSU.

Not only do the No. 1 Tigers boast a significant lead in the BCS standings, LSU has a mediocre schedule left until the SEC championship — where LSU probably will play three-loss Tennessee.

That's why all Sooner eyes should focus on the Ducks.

Even though Arizona hammered Oregon in Eugene last year, the Ducks will be a big favorite to win this time. In fact, Oregon will be a big favorite to win its final two games at UCLA and at home against in-state rival Oregon State.
